Washington State Massage Regulations
(aka "Learning to love a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.")
As of March 22, 2017, the Board of Massage has had the regulations approved by the Office of the Code Reviser. We are now in "Public Comment" phase of the CR-102. The Public Hearing for finalizing WAC 246-830 will be April 25 at 10am in Tumwater, WA, at the Department of Health's Town Center 2 Building.
Please note that the major changes are in the sections on scope of practice, breast massage, draping and record keeping. There were other changes proposed to increasing the number of hours for continuing education and increasing the training hours required. These have both been tabled until the September, 2017 Board Meeting. They are NOT currently subject to change, other than some minor grammatical corrections.
Please read these changes! If you approve of the changes SEND A COMMENT. If you do not approve of any of the changes SEND A COMMENT. Go to https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/policyreview/ before 5pm on April 20, 2017.
If you would like to peruse the comments I am proposing and use them for yourself, please go to my blog articles here (recordkeeping) and here (breast and perineal massage).
